Team Staal vs. Team Lidstrom
over the weekend some of the best hockey players in the NHL took part in the All Star Game and Super Skills Competition in Raleigh, NC. Team Staal started off on Saturday taking the skills competition by a score of 33-22. Scores were based on a number of different skill tests. for example hitting targets in the net and hardest shot. this year they had two new competitions. the team skills relay race and the shootout challenge. the team skills comp. was a series of different stations including the entire team doing a different skill. they started of with one-timers from one side of the ice. four players had to accurately hit the net raising the puck over an object sitting on the ice rising about six or seven inches from the ice. they had to get three pucks in the net before the next station could start. then a player at center ice had to make six cross ice passes at different lengths. the first three could be on the ice and they had to hit about a foot wide net. the next three passes had to be made over an object that rose about 2 to 3 inches off the ice and again trying to hit the foot wide nets at different lenghts. then after the passers were able to hit those targets the next person have to weave around some cones with a puck. then another player had to stick handle through seven or eight pucks i cant really remember how many. the pucks were seperated only inches apart and they had to go through the pucks twice. then once that was completed the next and final player had to hit four targets positioned in the net as fast as he could. after all of those competitions were completed team Staal came out on top. But then in a highly defensive battle........ team Lidstrom won in the All-Star game 11-10.
